About Me:
For about some time I was asking myself “What is it you can trust to encounter when you meet people all over the world? No matter what background, no matter what culture, what is it that is the same?” I wanted to write a book about this topic when I was to find out more about it and wanted to call it the psychological constant or something like it. And then I met Marshall Rosenberg who introduced me to Nonviolent Communication (NVC), which answered my questions pretty well. From then on I was convinced that human needs are the ultimate common ground. We all need sustenance, safety, love, community, understanding, creativity, recreation, autonomy and meaning to just name a few. These are divine qualities in our lives and no matter where we're coming from, how we're calling them, what our worldview is, we all strive for them.
Having the common ground settled so far, with growing trust over the years and practice of NVC, I more and more acknowledged that people really have many different ways of meeting and expressing those needs - and they do so reliably. How to map these different strategies and worldviews which follow from that? I think Ken Wilber did a very good job on this and gave me orientation in which way to organize all this information. Alan Watts in turn, who was both influential to Wilber and Rosenberg, gave me a lot of background on eastern spirituality and the hidden premises of the western culture. And Rosenberg, Wilber and Watts as well as many other spiritually interested/interesting people gave me inspiration on what I as a human being can do to contribute to life, consciousness and love.
Now the tough question is, how to integrate the knowledge and wisdom about “these things” into everyday conduct? To know the divine and radiant is one thing, but to express and live it in a (trans-)personal way, to be grounded in it, is another. And there seem to be a lot of pitfalls. The biggest challenges are of course the areas, which seem to trouble us quickly, like sex, power, financial security, political consequences from personal revelations, dealings with people, who don't share the same vision and healing the pain by meeting it, not by “meditating around it”. I'm interested in meeting people who are pursueing to meet these challenges and thereby create a fabulous connection between heaven and earth.
You're welcome to contact me if you find yourself in this short text about me and my summary of what I value and pursue.
